"Holy Lives In A Hostile World"

Pastor Akin opened by sharing troubling statistics about American Christianity, noting that while 33% attend church weekly, only 4% possess a biblical worldview. He identified America's greatest problems as spiritual lostness and counterfeit Christians. Drawing from Peter's letter to persecuted Christians under Emperor Nero, he emphasized that authentic Christians will face opposition but must live differently from the world. The solution requires Christians to live holy, honorable lives that are respected by others, removing sinful behaviors like malice, deceit, hypocrisy, envy and slander while demonstrating honor, love, fear of God, and respect for authority.
