Leadership

Pastor Tim Akin answered God's call to become the Senior Pastor of FBCD in December of 2017. He believes the local Church is God's primary vehicle for accomplishing His mission in the world today. Tim and his wife, Anna, spent two years on the mission field serving with the International Mission Board before returning to the States for vocational ministry. His passion for missions and disciple-making is evident in all that he does. He has his PhD in Systematic Theology from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. He and Anna have six children. 

David retired as a partner from the prestigious accounting firm, KPMG. He entered his next season of ministry and life by joining our staff in 2019 serving as our Executive Pastor. He and his wife, Debbie, have two sons with families of their own. David and Debbie have been members of FBCD for over twenty years. He oversees all finances and facilities for our church family, and his favorite hobbies are watching action movies and spending time with family. 

Timothy came to FBCD in 2021 as a Worship Arts Intern, but he now serves as our Worship Pastor. He is a graduate of Shorter University with a Bachelor of Music in Worship Leadership with piano primary and voice secondary. He has both a Master of Divinity degree and a Master of Arts degree in Christian Studies at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. He loves music producing, spending time with family, and watching college football.

Phillip Morris has been at FBCD for over thirteen years, ten of which he has served on staff in numerous capacities. He currently serves as our Pastor to Kids and the Director of our Go Sports Ministries. He and his wife, Tina, have three children, and in his spare time he enjoys playing disc golf.

Jessica and her family have been members of FBCD since 2021. She is a graduate of the University of Central Florida and is currently serving as the Preschool Director and Kids Ministry Assistant. Jessica and her husband, Noah, have three children- Chloe, Asher, and Lydia. In her spare time, you can find her baking or reading. 

Landon came to FBCD in 2021 as a Pastoral Intern, but he now serves as our Student Pastor. He is a graduate of Clemson University and is currently working on his MDiv at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. He loves sports, traveling, and seeing the next generation know and love Jesus. 

Montana grew up at FBCD, and has served on staff for six years. She serves in our Student Ministry and as the Communications Director. She is currently seeking her MA in Counseling from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. Her favorite hobbies are trying different coffee shops with friends and traveling.

Javier and his wife, Grace answered God’s call and came to FBCD in 2022. We have witnessed how God has moved powerfully among the Hispanic community in the Douglasville area. Pastor Javier began a Hispanic Bible study that quickly became its own vibrant Hispanic worship service in 2023. He enjoys reading and traveling, speaks three languages, and teaches virtually around the world.

Jon joined the FBCD family in 2020. He has been married to his wife, Shannon, since 1991, and they have four children and one grandchild. He is a full-time sales Director for the Latin American division of his company. He enjoys running and training for triathlons. 

Joan and her husband, Gregg, have been married for over thirty years and members of FBCD just over twenty years. They have two daughters, and they enjoy spending time with family. She has served on staff for twelve years, and currently serves in our Kids Ministry.

Abi is originally from Mexico City, Mexico, but now calls Atlanta his home. Along with his wife, Stephanie, and their three sons, Abi moved to Douglasville to come on staff at FBCD in the Fall of 2024. He loves theology and helping others understand the gospel of Jesus Christ. He serves both the FBCD and Go Iglesia Powder Springs campuses.

Abbi came to FBCD in 2021 as a Worship Arts Intern but now serves as our Worship Arts Associate and Communications Director. She is a graduate of Shorter University and California Baptist University and is currently pursuing her PhD in Christian Worship at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. She loves traveling, going to concerts, and spending time with friends and family.
