The King of Rest

Mar 10, 2024    Pastor Tim Akin

Pastor Akin began by acknowledging our universal need for physical and spiritual rest, noting that lack of proper rest affects our health and decision-making. He explained that David, now established as king and at rest from his enemies, wanted to build God a permanent house instead of the aging tabernacle tent. While Nathan initially approved, God had different plans - instead of David building God a house, God would establish an eternal covenant with David. The sermon emphasized that God is the perfect king who gives rest because he goes with us wherever we go, demonstrating the incarnational principle where God wants to be in the same condition as his people, ultimately fulfilled in Jesus Christ taking on human flesh.

In this message:

God is the perfect King that gives you rest.If you could provide the rest that you need don't you think you would have already done it.God is always with you - he goes with you wherever you go.The incarnational principle means God wants to be in the same condition that his people are in.Jesus not only took on human flesh but also identifies with your struggles because he faced them as well.
