"The Search For Security"

Feb 4, 2024    Pastor Tim Akin

Pastor Akin examined Israel's request for an earthly king when Samuel grew old and his corrupt sons failed as judges. He explained that Israel's desire for a king wasn't wrong in itself, but their motive was - they were rejecting God and seeking security in something tangible rather than trusting in the invisible God. The pastor defined idolatry as seeking security in someone or something other than Jesus, whether in governments, relationships, careers, or other temporal things. He argued that security can only be found in King Jesus because He is the only king who does not disappoint, being both eternal and perfect unlike all earthly leaders who will eventually fail or pass away.

In this message:

Idolatry is seeking security in someone or something other than Jesus.Security can be found only in the true King Jesus Christ. He is the only King that does not disappoint because He is eternal and perfect.Every man-made king will come to an end, but Jesus does not grow old or tired. We should not search for security in our children or make them our idols.
