The Sacrificial System: Made Pure for God's Presence

Jun 25, 2023    Pastor Eli Byrd

Pastor Byrd explained how God established the sacrificial system after giving the Ten Commandments because holy God wanted to dwell among sinful people. He outlined three key aspects: the sacrificial system atones for sin through blood sacrifice, it requires mediators (priests) to stand between God and the people, and it must be repeated because it cannot permanently solve the sin problem. The pastor emphasized that we need to be made pure to be in God's presence, using the Day of Atonement as an example of how sacrifices had to be offered repeatedly - daily sacrifices and annual ceremonies with two goats, one sacrificed and one sent into the wilderness.

In this message:

In order for us to live in God's presence we need to be made pure to be in his presence. The sacrificial system atones for sin, which means to cover sin through sacrifice. The sacrificial system needs a mediator because direct access to God wouldn't turn out well. The sacrificial system was repeated because it lacked the power to permanently deal with sin.Without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sin.
