"The Creation and the Image of God"
Jan 15, 2023
The sermon launched a new series called 'Creation to Chaos' focusing on foundational Christian truths from Genesis. Using a basketball coaching analogy, the preacher emphasized the importance of mastering fundamentals in both sports and faith. The message explored three key attributes of God from Genesis 1: He is eternal (having no beginning), He is creator (the sovereign king who made everything from nothing), and He is relational (existing as Trinity). The preacher explained how God's relational nature as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit means humans are made for community and relationship, connecting this to the importance of family, church involvement, and diverse community.
In this message:
The Bible assumes God's existence from the very beginning rather than working to prove it.God created the world out of nothing through the power of His spoken word. The Trinity means one God who reveals himself in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.Because God is relational and exists in community, humans are made for relationship and community.Getting Genesis right is foundational because if we get Genesis wrong, it's hard to get much else right.
