What Does My Giving Do?

Jan 19, 2025    Pastor Tim Akin

Pastor Akin taught that giving changes lives for eternity, using Paul's farming analogy that whoever sows sparingly reaps sparingly, but whoever sows bountifully reaps bountifully. He explained this principle of increase applies to all areas of life - marriage, parenting, health, and spiritual growth. The more you invest in something, the greater return you receive. He emphasized that giving should be planned and joyful, not reluctant or compulsive, as God loves a cheerful giver. The sermon included practical financial planning advice, encouraging a structure of 10% giving, 10% saving, and living on 80% of income.

In this message:

Your giving changes lives for eternity when you give of your time, talents, and treasures to the work of the Lord through his church. The principle of increase means the more that you give, the more that you get back in every area of life.Giving is ultimately about your heart - you give joyfully because you have experienced God's grace and mercy. You need to have a financial plan because a failure to plan is a plan to fail. The church is God's plan A for changing lives for eternity.
