God's Grace Changes Lives

Aug 11, 2024    Pastor Tim Akin

Pastor Akin defined God's grace as undeserved favor that God gives freely without expectation of return. He walked through the story of Naaman, a great Syrian commander who had leprosy. Despite his success and power, Naaman had a great need for God's grace. A young Israelite slave girl told Naaman's wife about Elisha's healing power. When Naaman arrived at Elisha's house with pomp and circumstance, Elisha didn't come out to greet him but sent a servant with simple instructions to wash seven times in the Jordan River. Naaman was initially enraged by this humble approach, expecting a more dramatic healing, but his servants convinced him to obey Elisha's word.

In this message:

God's grace is undeserved favor freely given without any expectation of return.Naaman was a great man in every way except he had leprosy and needed God's grace. The young Israelite slave girl became the unsung hero who pointed Naaman toward healing.Naaman's pride and entitlement initially prevented him from receiving God's grace.God often works through simple obedience rather than dramatic displays.
