Isaiah's Encounter with the Holy God
Pastor Akin began a new summer series called "Summer in the Majors" focusing on the major prophets. He explained that these five books (Isaiah, Jeremiah, Lamentations, Ezekiel, Daniel) contain predictive prophecy where God reveals the future through His prophets. The sermon focused on Isaiah 6:1-8, where Isaiah encounters God in the temple after King Uzziah's death. Pastor Akin shared his own encounter with God at age 17 on a mission trip to Honduras, explaining how it radically changed his desires and called him to ministry. He emphasized that genuine encounters with God don't come through religious motions but through regular engagement with Scripture, prayer, and worship. The main point was that a genuine encounter with God results in a life committed to Him, giving purpose, meaning, and direction.
In this message:
A genuine encounter with God results in a life committed to him.You cannot have a genuine encounter with the Lord while having one foot in with the world and then one foot in with Jesus.God cannot be manipulated when you play the Christian game. The pattern of every single one of our lives should be regular encounters with the Lord.We encounter God when we are confronted by his holiness.
