Elephant in the Room: Politics
Apr 7, 2024 • Pastor Tim Akin
Pastor Akin began a five-week series addressing controversial topics from a biblical worldview, starting with politics during election season. He emphasized that Christians must be like the men of Issachar who understood their times and knew what to do. The main idea was that Christians are to be good law-abiding citizens who please Jesus. From 1 Peter 2:13-17, he taught that believers should obey governing authorities, recognizing that God is ultimately in control and has ordained all leaders. He stressed that every politician in power is there by God's sovereignty, whether we agree with them or not.
In this message:
Christians are to be good law-abiding citizens who please Jesus.God has ordained and put in place every governing authority, regardless of political party. When you obey human authority, you are ultimately obeying the authority of God.Christians should conduct themselves in ways that create gospel opportunities rather than division. The Bible alone must determine our beliefs and convictions on political matters.
