Strive to be a Healthy Church
Oct 16, 2022 • Pastor Eli Byrd
Pastor Byrd transitioned from the doctrinal truths of Ephesians 1-3 to the practical application in chapters 4-6, focusing on church unity. He explained that unity is not something we create but something we maintain through the Spirit. The first way a healthy church maintains unity is by walking in humility - approaching conflicts with gentleness, patience, and bearing with one another in love rather than demanding respect. The second way is by serving in spiritual gifts, where Christ gave apostles, prophets, evangelists, shepherds and teachers to equip the saints for ministry and build up the body so believers won't be tossed around by false doctrine.
In this message:
Unity is not something that we attain but rather a reality that we maintain.A healthy church maintains unity by walking in humility in interpersonal conflicts.Christ gave spiritual gifts to equip the saints for ministry and build up the church body. When we don't serve in our gifts, the church suffers and believers become unstable in their faith.True unity comes from the Gospel of Jesus Christ, not from sports, geography, or social status.
