Micah: Our Hope for the Future

Oct 12, 2025    Pastor Phillip Morris

Pastor Morris began by introducing Micah as the sixth of twelve minor prophets, noting that Micah was a country prophet from Moresheth who prophesied alongside Isaiah, Hosea, and Amos. He highlighted Micah 5:2 as a notable Christmas prophecy about Jesus being born in Bethlehem 700 years before it happened. The sermon examined the problems in Micah's world that mirror today's issues: idolatry (putting other things before God), injustice (neighbors turning against neighbors), deception (false prophets and teachers), and corruption (bribery and social inequality). Morris emphasized that these same problems exist today and pointed to God's question in chapter 6 asking what He had done to deserve such treatment from His people, reminding them of His faithfulness in leading them from Egypt and providing for them.

In this message:

Jesus is the hope for the world we live today and literally is the only hope there is.Micah prophesied 700 years before Christ that the Messiah would be born in Bethlehem. The problems of idolatry, injustice, deception, and corruption in Micah's day mirror the problems we face today.God asks His people what He has done to deserve their unfaithfulness after all His blessings and provision.False teachers can be identified by whether their teaching can be backed up by the word of God.
