"Victory Over Shame"

Pastor Tim began by acknowledging that everyone has done shameful things, but proclaimed that in Christ there is victory over shame. He taught three main points from 2 Corinthians 5:17-21. First, in Christ you are remade - when you believe in Jesus, he makes you brand new and your past mistakes no longer define your identity. Second, in Christ you are reconciled - God came looking for you because he loves you, and through Jesus brings peace between you and God. Third, in Christ you are righteous - through the Great Exchange, Jesus takes our sin and shame and gives us his righteousness and perfect life.

The only way to heal from shame is to move the focus from what I am not to who Christ is.To be saved is to be changed - a new beginning, new behavior, new life where the past does not define you.At the heart of the Gospel is the Great Exchange - Jesus takes our sin and shame and gives us his righteousness.Jesus endured the cross despising its shame so that you could be saved.God is the perfect parent waiting on the front step for their child to come home.
