The Church in Thyatira: Conviction and Integrity

Pastor Tim examined Jesus's longest letter to the seven churches, addressed to Thyatira - a small, seemingly insignificant city with a blue-collar church that mattered greatly to Jesus. The letter contains both praise and stern correction, as the church tolerated a woman called "Jezebel" who was teaching false doctrine and leading people into immorality. Jesus praised their works, love, faith, service, and patient endurance, noting their latter works exceeded the first. However, He severely criticized their tolerance of compromise and false teaching. The pastor emphasized that being called a "Jezebel church" means excessive tolerance and compromise, watering down biblical convictions to be accepted by the world. He argued that churches must maintain theological conviction and moral integrity, being different from the world rather than conforming to it.
